Haze Singapore

Singapore is a tiny island in the tropics.
Most would imagine clear sky, sunshine, fun and a little tropical rain fall,
but can you imagine a hazy Singapore?

Yes, Singapore do have it's haze days.
Kind of like a haze season every year
with complements from the Sumatra's deforestation fire.

Haze or clear sky,
people seems to be least concern about the current environmental hazard in Singapore.
Business is as usual for most locals and tourist alike. 

Personally, I think the haze did add a new visual dimension to our beautiful city.
It adds an illusion of visual distance.
Backgrounds seems to be further away than it is.

Nice gardens city view.

On a positive note, clouds do have silver linings.
PSI did not exceed 300 range today.
Wonder how interesting if PSI exceeds 1000 points?
Keeping my finger crossed for now.

Everything changes and time passes without me even noticing.

Revisiting the Singapore financial districts 

is really an eye-opener

This can't be Singapore...

...don't remember this...

...may be...

...no way...

...far out...

...Wow...

Singapore's concrete structures skyline in the late 80s.

...but factually, it's the new and exciting intergrated financial hub extension.
Clearly Singapore has gone from concrete to glass...
...and almost delicately balanced society.

Singapore's concrete city in the early 90s with empty reclaimed land plots,
just waiting quietly for the right timing and developments. This marked the dawn of a conservative concrete era.

This gentleman is certainly
not the god of gambler,
actor Chow Yuen Fatt.

He is Sir Thomas Stamfort Raffles,
who brought to us the British crown colonial Singapore days.

At Raffles Landing, on 28th January 1819,
I figures his immediate concerns would probably be huge crocodiles infested shores,
mosquitos and bagging that one more score in his resume. Just making it to this historical landing site must be quite a feat.

Never in his wildest dream that he be honoured till present day, with such high esteems, prestige, regards, and standing tall in the heart of one of the world's most dynamic economies.

Raffles Place

Some familier old building facets may look the same as before, 

but the interiors are exquisitely upgraded.

The new building structures had definitely over shadowed the old, 
but some of us still do things the good old ways.

A gentle reminder of the city's humble begining.

It's a public holiday, that's why don't look vibrant or dynamic.

Shenton Way is where the financial districts branches out and is still going very strong.

Old landmark looks pretty insignificant in contrast with surrounding developments...and glad it's still prospering.

A total makeover of an old harbour, complete with a brand new skyline.

Merlion is still roaring and spitting out water in an upstage settings.

The new and old buildings are in harmony, forming the new skyline.

Well, if we position a few models in front of these beautiful backdrops,
stock images are definitely in the making.

Looking at how far Singapore have progresses in recent years,
I could not help but felt kind of out of place and time.

Take a strode down Singapore financial district's memory lane,
and we may even share the same feelings. Some may even find the environment intimidating.

This post is my personal tribute, an expression of respects and appreciation
to Singapore's world classed, master city planners,
which most people have taken for granted.
